How we began...
The BORDEAUX WOMEN'S CLUB was created at the end of World War II by American military wives living in Southwest France. They sought a way to welcome new arrivals and encourage friendships among American ladies living abroad. In 1984, we became an official association, recognized by the French govenment. Over the years, during which the world has changed dramatically, the Club has served a very large and active English-speaking community in the Bordeaux region. International travel has become much easier and international living far more common. But one thing remains true. English-speaking women continue to look for ways to find and appreciate one another while living abroad!

Today, you will discover a dynamic mix of English-speaking women from more than 25 countries who tend to settle here for the long term. Our essential aim remains the same: helping the international English-speaking community integrate into French life and culture. Accordingly, English-speaking foreigners and French citizens who have lived abroad in an English-speaking environment are invited to join. It is through the richness in the variety of our individual experiences that our exchanges contribute to the common bonds we share as women, as fellow members, and even as world citizens.
